Scooters Provide Impressive Gas Savings

Georgia Demetre and Terry Wallace of Sacramento, California are a 2-scooter family. Georgia bought an inexpensive Chinese TN'G scooter for $1,700 for errands and quick trips near home last summer.

"When the gas prices started going up, I felt really smart that I bought it," she said.

Impressed with the gas savings, this year her husband bought a more powerful Baron scooter for commuting and weekend cruising.

Demetre loves zipping around on her scooter, "taking delight in the sunshine on her face, the easy maneuvering, and the 90 miles she can cover on a mere gallon of gas," says an article in the Sacramento Bee. Their SUV gets only 20 mpg and costs $60 or more to fill.

Scooter sales are up across the country. As gas prices push past the $3 mark, more Americans are drawn to the fuel efficiency and pure fun of scooter riding. Rising Gas Prices Don't Faze Scooter Riders

Recent news from Alaska has car owners groaning once again as they slog to the pumps, dreading yet another gas increase. BP's closing of the Prudhoe Bay oil field in Alaska this week is expected to push gas prices up immediately by at least a nickle. The longer the shutdown lasts while corroded pipes are repaired, the higher the price of gas is expected to rise. Experts warn that pump prices of $4 a gallon in some parts of the country are not out of the question.

Scooter owners just shrugged and smiled. When your vehicle gets 60 to 100 mpg, another nickle at the pump doesn't even cause a tremor in your wallet. Savvy consumers across the country are discovering the joys of scooter riding. Businessmen who suit up for a quick commute to the office enjoy the maneuverability a scooter gives them in tight traffic and the ease of parking once they get to the office. Cost-conscious college students love the "green" savings -- both economic and ecologic -- as they zip around campus. Scooters have become so popular that many campuses now feature "scooter corrals" outside buildings and dorms. Suburbanites say hopping on a scooter even makes running errands fun! Fun-loving retirees lured by the gas savings are discovering the pure joy of zipping around in the "ultimate convertible."

Whatever your reason for buying a scooter, Scootertronics has the ride for you. At Scootertronics you'll find the selection and power you want. Come check out the latest models at our Sykesville, Maryland showroom or on our website. We ship nationwide and scooters are ready to ride right out of the crate. Fun Scooters Save Gas

Across the country scooter sales have been rising as gas prices soar. "The gas prices helped me justify it," said Linda Rose, a Carmichael, CA grandmother of her green Vespa GT 200. "I just filled my tank for $5 and I could tootle around for another 100 miles. I do everything on it." Rose hops on her scooter to go to work, the video store, the grocery, and recently cruised the Auburn hills on a road trip with 40 other scooter buffs.

"With scooters, the whole image is having fun and saving money," said BJ Strass, editor of Scooter Rider magazine, in an article posted on NorthJersey.com. Fun and love of the outdoors top the list of reasons his 7,000 readers buy a scooter, but gas savings is behind the recent surge in scooter sales.

Scootertronics carries a full line of gas-saving scooters starting at under $1,000. Scooters get 60 to 100 mpg depending on the model. Some scooters are designed to cruise at 40 mph on surface steets with more powerful models made for highway travel capable of reaching speeds up to 100 mph. Scooters differ from motorcycles in their step-through design (no straddling the seat while riding) and automatic transmissions (no clutches, no shifting). This makes them easy to learn to drive and comfortable to ride. Visit the Scootertronics website to find the scooter that's right for you and start saving money at the pump today.

Scooter Sales Soar With Gas Prices

Americans' wallets are significantly lighter this week as gas prices edged over the $3 mark in the midwest and reached appalling prices well over $3 on both coasts. As gas prices soar, more people are turning to fuel-efficient scooters to get around town. Major Smith of Greenville, North Carolina estimates he's already saved $150 in gas since buying his scooter earlier this summer.

"The way gas prices are getting, as far as around town, short distances, you can't beat it," said Smith in an article posted by Eyewitness News 9. "It sure saves on the wallet."

Even the largest scooters (150 to 250 cc) average 60 miles per gallon for in-town driving. With smaller 50 cc models, you can get a whopping 90 to 100 mpg. In comparison, a 4-cylinder car averages 28 mpg in town; a V-6, 22 mpg; a truck or SUV, only 14 mpg.

Scooter sales have hit the fast lane. "They've been very popular," said Tim Woolard of Ron Ayers scooter sales in Greenville. "Our sales have increased every month this year."

Scooter Sales Surge

The promise of high gas mileage is bringing car owners into scooter showrooms. Scooter sales surged 65% in the third quarter of 2005 as gas prices started to skyrocket, and increased by 18% overall, according to an article by Rick Popely that appeared in the Baltimore Sun online. To read the article go to http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nationworld/bal-te.bikergas18jun18,0,3709442.story?page=1&coll=bal-nationworld-headlines.

DuPage Honda-Yamaha in West Chicago, IL sold out their scooter stock last summer. "Nobody cared what the price was," said sales manager Tim Fritz, adding that sales have stayed strong. He believes baby boomers' disposable income fuels the interest sparked by high gas mileage.

"The motocycle buyer just wants to get out on the road and let the wind blow through their hair," he said. While the Easy Rider mystique hooks many motorcycle and scooter buyers, he noted the high mileage can seal the deal when its time to sell the spouse.

Whether you're looking for a way to express your wild side or are tired of feeding the gas pump, scooter owners enjoy the best of both worlds. Visit us at Scootertronics at http://store.scootertronics.com/. We offer a complete line of gas-powered and electric scooters at very affordable prices and can help you find the perfect ride.

Gas Savings Drive Up Scooter Sales

Working a second job to keep pace with the high cost of gas, Terrence Hunter of South Bend, IN bought his first moped a few months ago. Getting 85 to 100 miles per gallon, the scooter costs him only $10 to $15 a week at the gas pump, quite a savings compared to the $50 he was spending to fill his truck.

"It goes through gas like it needs to be in AA," he said of his truck in an article in the South Bend Tribune. (Read the article at http://www.southbendtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060530/News01/60530023/CAT=News01.

"Everyone that comes through the door complains about it," said Ed Durrell, owner of Ed's Cycle in Mishawaka, IN where Hunter bought his moped. "People driving SUVs getting 12 miles to the gallon think that this is a pretty good investment."

Moped and scooter sales are keeping pace with the rising cost of gas. Most dealers have seen a 35% increase in sales over the past year. Dealers caution customers to educate themselves before purchasing a moped or scooter. A reputable and established dealer, Scootertronics can help you find the scooter that's right for your needs. We pride ourselves on providing the best customer service in the business and our customers agree:

"The person who made the difference is Michael. He was easy to talk to and made you feel he wanted to do the right thing. I have never bought anything like this. So far the process has been enjoyable. Thanks, Jerry"

Another custyomer says Scootertronics provided "the best customer service I ever had buying a scooter. I will buy my other scooters from Scootertronics.com from now on."
