Fuel and Air Delivery
Fuel and Air Delivery
Fuel and Air delivery is vital to all scooter engines running properly for best performance. Brand new most run fine when prepped correctly. After getting some miles on your scooter the additives in the fuel build in the carb. Fuel line lines become weak and crack. Air filters become dirty and clogged plus the air boxes on most don’t help much at all. If you have a more expensive or better quality scooter of course your system is much better. Most scooters are made to run lean in the first place for EPA regs. Your average small scooter will benefit from an improved fuel and air delivery system.
Long story short a high flow fuel valve from Mikuni solves the problem along with a new fuel filter plus some fuel line. A well made air filter like the UNI Dual Layer but don’t make the mistake of free flow air filter if you are not upgrading other parts of the engine as exhaust and cylinder. New Jets both main and idle plus going up a notch or two for more gas will help also. Be sure to get correct pump for your scooter some are made for scooters with gas tanks located below the carb while others are for above.
