Easy to custom pick the engine models from several brand name 70cc cylinder kits which include a head and maybe some reeds also. Plenty of gaskets to really pull all the compression. Quick note do not by pass tunning of CVT when doing the engine you simply will miss the boat and break belts and fall down a lot. I will include the CVT in this build also.

Not really a better 70cc build but one that has worked out well in the shop that is used to build the SRC scooters for the road track. Since they are ridden hard care must go into the build to create a top running machine, The awesome power from a finely tuned Yamaha Zuma BWs two stroke scooter engine is enough lite up the Kart tracks that are visited SRC.

The Yamaha Zuma or Yamaha BWs 50 from Yamaha has a vertical engine. This engine is commonly known as 98-01 on a lot of parts plus earlier models are the same then Yamaha skipped a year so some 2002 models are vertical and the rest horizontal in the USA.

The products and brands of parts used varys for the Yamaha BWs some just due to supply. There are just very hard to either stock a few or even get them but once a year. The Stage6 vertical intake is a great piece but rare to get.

The whole reed cage intake for vertical has always been a sorta problem because of the large carbs used and air filters allowing heavy air flow. Seems 19mm

PWK Flatslide

is one that easier to have around so that one works well with the Dellorto 19mm- 21mm carbs just great but try a 26mm flat slide not going in with power jet just going to bog. Got real lucky with a chrome metal with reed cage that a 28mm flat side fits right on nice with larger air filter. That one is not around much so I use the 19mm for 21mm-26mm and correct the air flow as much as possible. Something done when running the scooter and trying a few.

Easy way to start is how much fuel and air do you want to put through the engine. For getting around a 19mm Dellorto with a simple 35mm air filter stock intake gets it done with mileage. Drop a 21mm intake with matching reed cage with carbon fiber reeds or Boysen glass ones with a Mikuni TM24 and plenty of air if not with a bell mouth. No gas mileage but the power jet will even things out so you know when to fill up. The PWK flatslide from Stage6 21mm-30mm is also a good choice. The 19mm intake can be used but a little more tunning with air and jet size might be at hand.

Where the engine is concerned a iron Malossi kit is a sure way to beat traffic all around with good out of the box porting. Very fail safe. With all that fuel air getting blasted in a Athena 70cc cylinder kit does a fine job with a choice of 10mm pin or 12mm pin. These kits are the same as a Stage6 Sport kit with Athena offering a racing kit as well as Stage6 both with 12mm pins for some new crank shafts also. There are also good bargins sometimes on Airsal 70cc cylinder kits also. Athena still is alive and kicking with easy install and great porting one ring race piston.

This makes it a lot easier to do a pipe from Leo Vince an ZXR is what I have been using for a year now just as an end all problems pipe that gets the job done whether 50cc or 70cc.. So a Super 9 can have a carb, intake, air filter installed along with a pipe plus a CDI from Naraku that is a very good upgrade that is basic plug and play.

Kymco 20mm Intake

Leo Vince provides many options with a TT Models plus its ZXR model that come with weights and clutch torque springs. Naraku has come out with a CDI for just about every model. The Super 9s do use different CDIs from the LC and AC use different types that are all plug and play with switch wire box for some models.

Kymco along with Yamaha Zuma are the most popular scooters in the US and the easiest to upgrade both taking every part of the engine can get mods.

Leo Vince ZXR

If its top end in a Zuma you will need cylinder kits, the Kymco can get a little more top end with just air and fuel and exhaust. The Kymco two stroke engines if you don’t want to put a 70 kit on them respond very well to carb, air filter and pipe with doing the pipe last Kymco pipes are very good at stock. Along with CVT work.

An Arreche carb and air filter will boost air flow and fuel. Due to gearing in Super 9s its better to upgrade clutch and torque spring for take off and leave weights at 7 – 8gram, as long as the weights are not worn so they hit high gear all the time to take off will increase by upgrading rear driven pulley parts such as clutch, clutch bell and torque springs.

Kymco Super four stroke No Rev CDI will let loose the power band and give you the bent up performance your Super 8 is screaming for now. Narakus CDI’s are been on the money everytime I send one out for the first time. Naraku took the time to complete plug and play install by developing wiring harness for each model. Example is a Liquid Cooled Super 9 takes a different CDI than an Air Cooled. Same exhaust and CVT parts but not CDI.

Kymco Four Stroke GY6 CDI

Kymco scooters have one other unique feature different than most other 50cc models where the final drive gearing is much more aggressive and produces more top end. So paying attention to the clutch area to produce more torque through clutches, clutch bells, springs and drive plates while keeping the roller weights at a high gram weight at 7-7.5 and even 8 or 9 is the way to achieve the best results.

Certainly your Zuma is staving for fuel they make them all run lean which keeps them hot and slow with no fuel to get that kick when you crack the throttle. In comes the V Force reed Valves that replaces the run of the mill run the Zuma comes with stock with metal pedals that break and ruin your piston and cylinder the number one cause of engine failure. Adding the V Force Reed Valve along with an Airsal 70cc kit will greatly improve your top plus adding simply awesome bottom end.

Honda Reveals New EFI CVT 125cc Engine
From a first glance for me it looks like a new improved GY6 engine which Honda created back in the 80′s from what I have learned since I started in 2003.
EFI Liquid Cooled Low Friction
I doubt the states will see this for awhile unless there is something I missed. Like Honda’s newest scoots that since I can not offer them or offer honda genuine parts I don’t know everything.

It seems like a return to old values to be talking about enhanced durability, quietness, and fuel economy, but Honda has gone all-out to build the next 125 world motor with those primary qualities.

Performance Parts VS Stock Parts
You have just gotten a new scooter straight off the showroom floor and got it home. You researched many scooter models and found out tons of stuff about the one you wanted and the one you ended up with from the local dealer. At this point you feel great about your choice and very much ridding around your town and checking out everything from your new found view of life itself.
So your scoot just does get up that hill fast enuff or get the top speed you were told you would get straight from the showroom floor. Now from your research you already know this can be improved but you are not quite sure what will help the most or simply whats you biggest bang for the buck because you just laid out for the purchase.
